Whale sightings in Sydney, 2011 midseason update

Most of humpback whales already migrated North for breeding and now will be a little bit quit period till spring (in Southern hemisphere). According to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service whale numbers are up about 10% and almost 1000 whales were seen passing Sydney. It is highest whale count since Australia banned commercial whaling in the 1960s. Here is chart of whales seen on whale watching tours in Sydney during last three months: During peak migration in June numbers looks much better then it was last year. Except one week, but it is not because was no whales. The sea was a little bit rough and some whale watching tours were canceled because of weather. I think everybody is expecting perfect whale watching season in October/November. Above whale sightings are taken from this page www.whalewatchingsydney.net/whale-sightings.
