Noted Russian writer and globetrotter Ferdinand Ossendowski was not the first one, who sang the praises of Shangri-La, a patch of mystical utopia, hidden from the prying eyes and woes of corporeal existence, in the lap of Kunlun Mountains. British author James Hilton also extolled the virtues of this fictional "never land", in his 1933 novel Last Horizon.
